World Design Capital 2024: Inspiring Change Through Human-Centered Design Education

San Diego-Tijuana is the 2024 World Design Capital. They are the World Design Organization’s first binational designation, including our tribal governments. They are addressing our region's most pressing issues by designing more equitable futures at, and across, the border. The Educators Alliance, housed in the Design Lab at UCSD, is a bi-national group of organizations and programs from K-12, pre-college programs, colleges, and universities. They are focused on sharing ideas, methods and design tools for students, teachers, administrators and lifelong learners. Formed in 2013, The Design Academy, a WDC 2024 education lead, helps organizations innovate, improve processes and solve challenges by applying the principles of human-centered design and interdisciplinary knowledge. The Design Academy has formalized and custom design thinking training programs.
