The World is Astonishing with You in It: Upending Photography

Photography is well known for its ability to accurately depict people, places, and things. In this talk, artist Amanda Marchand and San Diego-based curator Kevin Miller invite you to reconsider the possibilities of traditional photographic materials. Through a spirited exploration of Marchand’s practice, attendees will learn about a creative path accessible to all using light sensitive materials, without a darkroom.
Marchand’s work is inspired by design and exists at the margins of photography. Her use of collage-based techniques and conceptual practice merges a concern for the natural world with visual art.
