Aaron Cover has over 20 years of remodeling and carpentry experience, combining a background of drafting, 3D modeling, and user experience design. He recently began exploring the potentials of laser cutting/engraving with a focus on creating innovative and meaningful design pieces. These have included specialized boxes, models, maps, lighting, decor, wedding favors, and even fashion. He finds his inspiration primarily in the geometric and mathematical designs of nature, translating it into purposeful human elements that can solve a situation, make a personal connection, or simply just spark an idea for someone else.

Take a virtual tour with Aaron Cover to discover how the outside beauty of San Diego inspired the creation of a 3-piece, 3-dimensional, 30-layer topography map from 3mm plywood over 3 months from conception to completion.
Explore the process used to create a multi-layered model of the area from ocean depths to mountain highs using CNC and laser cutting machines in this virtual tour, including the data collection and design preparation process required for production, the challenges and capabilities of the devices, and the final assembly and finishing techniques. Then imagine the possibilities for yourself that can be achieved using these tools and methods and discover some creative potential for yourself.
