Opening Night at Mingei

Opening Night at Mingei

Kick off the third annual San Diego Design Week at Mingei! Enjoy drinks, cocktails, and snacks while mingling with San Diego Design Week advisors and presenters surrounded by art and Balboa Park views. Explore the museum's new exhibition, Toying with Design, and its other exhibitions featuring objects of folk art, craft, and design.

The conclusion of AIGA San Diego’s Y-25 Conference will also be helping kick off San Diego Design Week with a whimsical procession. Stilt-dancing performers and puppetry from Animal Cracker Conspiracy will guide guests from Mingei to Spreckels Organ Pavilion. Upon arrival at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion, guests will enjoy the premiere of AIGA’s third annual Projecting Futures exhibition. The immersive motion graphic experience showcases the work of designers from all levels throughout the San Diego – Tijuana region. Produced in partnership with the San Diego Youth Symphony, Youth Ballet, and Junior Theater, the evening promises to be an inspiring and thought-provoking feast of high-impact design, music, and dance. (Procession includes kids from SD Youth symphony, Youth Ballet, and Animal Cracker Conspiracy)
